Chef & owner Alex Haupt - 101 Gowrie
Alex Haupt (1991) is an Australian chef with German and Japanese roots. At a young age he started working in the kitchen of his parents’ restaurant and later in more famous restaurants both in Australia and Europe.
Alex grew up on 101 Gowrie street and his family still lives there. The concept of the 101 Gowrie restaurant is to create the same atmosphere as the dinners that Alex’s parents used to organize for their friends and family. It is also his way of making himself feel a bit closer to home and putting his own stamp on the family business.
In 2014, Alex moved to the Netherlands, where he became interested in the cultural history and fantastic products that this country has to offer. He took this as an inspiration for 101 Gowrie and thereby created his own version of the Dutch cuisine.
