Orlando Marzo - World's Best Bartender 2018
Orlando Marzo began his bartending career at hospitality school in Italy. On graduating, he moved to London to fine-tune his bartending skills by mixing fine drinks and demonstrating his impeccable service standards within the Rushmore group at well-known bars, “The Player”, and “Milk and Honey”.
Towards the end of 2013, Orlando moved to Australia with the aim of improving and learning from Melbourne’s world class hospitality industry. After working with the Eau-de-Vie group, Orlando’s skill, passion and positive attitude drew the attention of the renowned Lûmé ― where he held the role of Bar Manager, focusing each day on creating fantastic drinks which paired with the restaurant’s multidisciplinary approach.
In October 2018, Orlando was crowned World’s Best Bartender after beating international competition at Diageo’s World Class Bartender of the Year event in Berlin. Winning this award has allowed Orlando to better his global network and share his insights and experience with the wider bartending world.
Since winning the title of World’s Best Bartender, Orlando has joined Worksmith as Beverage Director, a role that will see him provide training and educational programs for the hospitality industry, work closely with the wider community and develop his own bar concept with the support of the Worksmith team.
As the current Diageo World Class Bartender of the Year Orlando has embarked on a world tour, bartending in some of the world’s top bars, working alongside fellow World Class Bartenders, hosting bartending masterclasses and inspiring the next generation of bartenders in locations such as Hong Kong, Vietnam, London, Kentucky, Japan and Italy.
