5x stevige brunch amsterdam - Taste of Amsterdam

Besides breakfast, lunch and dinner, we are convinced that brunch is just as important! And despite that fact that breakfast bowls, overnight oats and home made granola bars are delicious, almost everyone is occasionally craving a bit heavier meal (we are at least). For that reason we made a list of the 5 best brunch places for a hearty brunch!

  1. Little Collins

Besides their amazing location in De Pijp, Little Collins has opened its doors to their second location on the Bilderdijkstraat. The Australian style brunches are hearty and it make your hangover melt like butter in the sun. Their slogan, ‘Where hangovers meet’, is very applicable. The brunch-café serves the best diches to satisfy your cravings, like sausage & waffles, smoked burrata pastrami sandwich and eggs with avocado and fermented chilis.

  1. De Wasserette

Not new but a keeper for sure is De Wasserette and has to be part of this list. It is especially recommended for those that seek a hearty lunch in combination with great coffee. Make sure to order their number one sandwich: two thick slices of sourdough bread with avocado, chicken, truffle-mayo and a delicious blanket of parmesan shavings. Hmmmm… To prevent any misunderstanding, you have to walk to the bar to place you order. This means you can do a little exercise before you devour this calorie-bomb.

  1. Morgan & Mees

Brunch in style can be done at Morgan & Mees with a slightly fancier menu than your average lunchroom and with the looks of a luxurious French bistro. The menu offers a great mix of classics with some nice fusion twists. From buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup to scrambled egg with truffle they have it all. Or try a MEES’ EGGS: sourdough bread, poached eggs and bacon topped with hollandaise sauce. This brunch goes well together with a delicious ‘detox’ juice, cup of coffee or try one of their refreshing ‘recover’-cocktails.

  1. George

Another business that swears by its classics is George. A bulky Caesar Salad with grilled chicken, or do you prefer a brunch with one of the many egg dishes? Egg lovers are at the right address! Poached eggs with either ham, spinach or salmon and all of them covered in soft hollandaise sauce, delicious!

  1. Teds

The place to go for the all-day brunch is Teds. At this no-nonsense brunch room, they’ve got you covered from early in the morning until around five PM for a Philly steak sandwich, one of the Croques (Monsieur/Madame/Monster) or a heavily topped waffle. Furthermore, you can choose for a detox-smoothie or a retox -boozy brunch with bubbles, G&T’s or cocktails. Did you know they serve 5 types of Bloody Mary?!
